About

We believe theological education is ultimately about knowing God, loving Him with the mind and heart, and serving Him in community in humble obedience.

Our aim is therefore to make thoughtful, high-quality biblical teaching accessible to believers from all walks of life, especially the Ethiopian and Eritrean diaspora in the UK and beyond, in both English and Amharic.

We also believe that theological study should serve the church and the world for the glory of God. Jesus calls His disciples to a teaching commission when He said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20). At Tyrannus, we seek to equip believers to respond faithfully to that call.

The Tyrannus Centre for Theology does not offer accredited degrees. Instead, we offer something humbler and more accessible: biblically rooted teaching by experts in the field, and culturally attentive theological learning in community, shaped for the life of the church and the service of God’s people.

Our desire is to help believers grow together in knowing God, loving God, and serving God through the faithful study of His Word.

We adopt a pedagogical ethos in which theology is not merely the transmission of content, but the cultivation of whole-person discipleship: cognitive understanding, affective orientation, embodied practice, and communal formation ordered toward love of God, the church, and others. In this way, we are driven by a vision of forming disciples, where theological study is shaped through Scripture, communal formation, and embodied practice oriented toward the church and the world.

Our vision

The Tyrannus Centre for Theology forms believers through accessible, high-quality theological education in English and Amharic. Grounded in Scripture and open to all, regardless of prior theological training, our courses cultivate whole-person discipleship: understanding the faith, loving God with heart and mind, and living as faithful witnesses who serve the church and the world while they await Christ's return.
